09.27.00 |  Emergency Hazardous Material agencies have been provided equipment and basic training as part of an evaluation program of the Guardian Bio Threat Alert Test System for biological agent collection and identification.  Fire and environmental health departments in the cities of Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Phoenix, San Diego County (CA), Montgomery County (MD) and Miami-Dade County (FL) are participating.   Evaluations began in late-July in Chicago and will continue to be conducted over the next few weeks.

The Guardian Bio-Threat Alert (BioThreat Alert™) System, a joint private development effort between Alexeter Technologies, LLC (Wheeling, IL) and Tetracore, LLC (Rockville, MD) will give the first responder community the ability to immediately test for potentially dangerous biological substances, such as anthrax, Ricin, botulinum and plague.

Initial reviews of the Guardian Bio Threat Alert System have been positive. "We were very impressed with the BioThreat Alert System and its ability to quickly report results from your test strips...our final opinion is that your device is a sound product that will enhance the capability of responders performing field testing..."  -- WMD Coordinator, beta-test site.

"The Guardian Bio Threat Alert™ System will, for the first time, give the emergency first responder community the ability to confidently determine whether a bio-terrorist threat is likely either a hoax or credible within minutes of arrival on the scene", says Dr. James Whelan, President and General Manager of Alexeter.

Production versions of the Guardian Bio Threat Alert System are anticipated for full deployment by year's end.

The Guardian Bio Threat Alert™ Test Strip System will be marketed primarily to domestic emergency personnel, such as local or state emergency and law enforcement officials, who are first on the scene at potential bio-terrorism events.   Alexeter Technologies, LLC, a privately-held company, develops, manufactures and distributes time-critical technologies for use in collection, detection and identification of unknown biological agents in the environment.
